A Month, By Any Other Name (Contest Poem)
by rawland
Just imagine…if Augustus did not defeat Marc Antony And Rome’s sixth month’s name, Sextillus, was not changed How our calendars would now be illustrated Since the meaning of the root word, “Sex”
Can sometimes be deranged;
Although there really is nothing wrong with sex— In its proper place— But our calendar? I think not— For that we have the Internet… And August, now, has much more history and grace.
