A Hint of Autumn Always Reminds Me...
Of the Curves of Autumn
(October 2005 Creative Writers Network Contest Entry
In the curve of her scarlet leaf
settles drops that glisten and shine
the morning dew thick with weight
tears dripping like sweet red wine
It’s with curves she flows so freely
in her misty dawn I’m electrified
She is autumn and she awakens me
with her colorful collage amplified
In the curve of the harvested hills
the crops are stripped and dried
black birds will gather and caw
at the laughter of children on hay rides
It’s with curves she flows so freely
the afternoon is a pleasant surprise
She is autumn and she is brilliant
reminding me how fast time flies
In the curve of the crescent moon
peeks the sleepy eye of her autumn sky
soothing me with a sense of slumber
when cool nights breathe and sigh
It’s with curves she flows so freely
in her arms I’m cradled and warm
She is autumn and she is my comfort
I take solace in how she transforms
